Room for debate
Introduction: can the minimum wage be too high?
On Monday, Seattle’ city council vote to raise the local minimum wage gradually to $ 15 an hour, more than twice the federal minimum wage. Can the economy support such a raise? Will elevating the pay floor lead to job loses or will it be a boon for the city an example for national reform?
Summary: Seattle raised the minimum wage to $15 an hour is this good decision for national economy?
Experts,
Diana furchtgott-roth, expert Diana is saying that Seattle’ economy can afford the raise of $ 15 an hour but how about people with low skill and young people. First, raising a minimum wage to $15 will lead to lot of changes, the prices on supermarket will go up, restaurants will raise up their menus and also groceries etc…
Second, Employers will liquidate the Employees with low skill and teenagers
Robert Reich, expert basely saying, in these days is not only teenagers are the most minimum wage workers so raising the minimum wage help some people keep their family out of poverty and also help afford the cost of living
Expert James, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour should shiver economists. Is not necessary a good move one for the city’ wage worker. Raising the minimum wage would give hard time people with low skills find a job. And he said, Washington policymakers who want the help poor workers should make decision but not waiting on Seattle to experiment before they do so
Expert Nick hanauer, an orthodox economist, he disagreed with Seattle for raising the minimum wage. The step that Seattle took destroy their economy, companies get less of ist benefits or profits. Seattle Employers already pay 27 percent more than the federal ( $7.25) minimum wage and he talked about the fundamental of capitalism, when the city have more money the business grow fast and also the more people get the more they spend.
Summary, I think this is really tuff topic raising the minimum wage is good but can the companies pay their employees? And how about the people with low skill because I think any company will hire someone and pay more money for low skill and also raising the minimum wage will lead some people to laziness of pursuing their educational.
